Everyone at Cal Poly Humboldt can use Panopto to make, caption, stream and share videos. You don't have to use YouTube anymore to stream your academic videos and the automatic caption service in Panopto Links to an external site. is so much better than YouTube's.

How to Use Panopto Course

Banner for How to use Panopto self-enroll coursePlease self-enroll in the How to Use Panopto course. You will learn about the interface and steps to produce and share videos. Many Canvas courses have a link to Panopto Video in the course navigation so you'll be able upload videos for assignments.

Other Video Editing Software

You can still use iMovie, Premier Pro, Adobe Express and other software to create your videos. Admittedly, the Panopto editing tool is limited to non-destructively editing out sections of a video on the timeline. You may well prefer adding text, images, transition, etc. in software with a robust editing suite. The key will be for you to upload the .mp4 file to Panopto Video in Canvas. Here's how: Click Panopto Video in the Canvas course navigation > click + Create > select Upload media > click the center button to begin to find your .mp4 file > navigate to your .mp4 file > click the file name.

Upload an .mp4 video file in Panopto by clicking Panopto Video > + Create > Upload media > navigate to the file. Panopto then processes the file for its streaming server.

By default, your file will be uploaded to the course's Panopto Video folder.
