Module 4 Overview

Weeks 14-16 Future Implications

The future of the oceans is unclear

The Big Picture

We must not abandon the fundamentals of good fishery management in the face of climate change, sea level rise, and other uncertainties

We should not abandon concepts of MSY and EBFM

We must develop and embrace new tools and approaches

Synthesizing concepts from Modules 1-3 into Module 4.

Your Learning Activities

  • Identify and describe creative fisheries management actions from the different perspectives of fishers (commercial and recreational), management (fish scientists), and conservation (enforcement)
  • Describe novel approached across landscapes and seascapes on a global perspective

Module schedule

Big Picture for the Week

Your Learning Activities

  • Increase your understanding of the RAD concept fisheries management processes
  • Review case studies
  • Research the guest lecturer Dr. Laura Rogers-Bennet (UCD BML and CDFW)
  • Develop three questions for the guest lecturer
