The Big Picture for the Module
- Increase your understanding of the concepts of stock assessment and the relationships to fisheries management processes (e.g., Pacific Fisheries Management Council)
- Learn the basic "language" of stock assessment which is applicable to aquatic invertebrates, fishes, and marine mammals
- Learn more about the diversity of career options in the field of fisheries management and conservation
Your Learning Activities
- Demonstrate understanding of the different types of data used in dependent and independent fisheries assessments
- Demonstrate understanding of fished species' life history, biology, and habitat use and how management practices impact sustainability
- Assess historic and current management practices and evaluate the effectiveness of the management practices
- Demonstrate knowledge of the concept of stock assessment
- Demonstrate knowledge of the data available to manage fisheries
- Demonstrate knowledge of the intricacies of Tribal sovereignty and US government fisheries management
